Right-To-Carry Law Type: Reasonable May Issue. The permit may be issued for one year, and the applicant must be a suitable person to be so licensed and they have good reason to fear injury to his person or property or have any other reason. Cod of Alabama, 1975, section 13A-11-73 states that Alabama Law prohibits any person from carrying a pistol in any vehicle or concealed on or about their person without a pistol permit license.

Is a pistol permit issued in another state valid in Alabama?
No. Currently, there is no Alabama statute authorizing reciprocity of pistol permits with other states. NOTE: Passage of Senate Bill 122, which was signed by the Governor on May 15, 2001, allows for reciprocal agreements with other states. The bill went into effect on August 1, 2001.
